| A woman who was fired from a job working for Macomb County after less than 10 days was kept on the government-paid health insurance plan for eight years, billing $230,000 for treatment of cancer and other ailments, a prosecutor says. The prosecutor, Eric Smith, of Macomb County filed four counts of health care fraud against the woman, Jackie Youhanian, 38, who now lives at Prattville, Ala. She was removed from the county payroll at the Martha T. Berry Medical Facility in Mount Clemens, but apparently not the health care rolls, a mistake officials say may have been a record-keeping error. “This was not a one-time error, or a goof-up, or a mistake in judgment,” Mr. Smith said in a news release. “This was a continuing criminal scheme.” Ms. Youhanian did not immediately return calls to her home seeking comment. |

| Anyone who has a home insurance policy should be fortunate enough to have flood damage included as part of their cover. Most home insurance policies do include this cover as standard but you should double check the small print. For anyone without home insurance - get some and get it now! After the floods in the last couple of years, many leading home insurers even are considering removing flood cover from their standard home insurance policies unless the government increases its flood defence budget. |
