| Australia: Murphy Oil Buys Stake in Offshore Project |

| The Murphy Oil Corporation bought a stake in an offshore oil project in Australia from the closely held Finder Exploration, its first venture in the country. Murphy, based in El Dorado, Ark., said it had agreed to acquire a 40 percent stake in an exploration permit for an area northwest of Australia and operate the project. Terms were not disclosed. “This acreage acquisition is important as it not only marks our entry into Australia where we see further growth opportunities but complements our existing Southeast Asia position, which is already yielding strong results in Malaysia,” Murphy’s chief executive, Claiborne P. Deming, above, said in a statement. |
